BAGHDAD - Three US soldiers were killed in Iraq at the weekend, two in the Iraqi capital, the US military said early Monday.
"Two soldiers with Task Force Lightning died from their injuries after a bomb exploded near their vehicle during operations in Baghdad Saturday," the army said in a statement. Another soldier was also wounded in the incident.
Another soldier died from his injuries in the northern province of Kirkuk, while two more were wounded.
The latest toll brings to 41 the number of US soldiers killed in Iraq this month.
In total, at least 3,518 soldiers or military personnel have been killed in Iraq since the March 2003 invasion of the country, according to Pentagon figures.
