TRIPOLI - Iranian Vice President Parviz Davoudi arrived in Libya on Wednesday for economic talks -- the first top official from Tehran to visit Tripoli for 25 years, a Libyan source said.
Davoudi was welcomed by Libyan Prime Minister Baghdadi Mahmudi, with whom he co-chairs the Iranian-Libyan economic commission, ahead of two days of talks aimed at strengthening economic ties between the countries.
The pair will discuss a series of trade agreements and aim to develop links between the countries in the electricity, gas, oil and water sectors.
Davoudi will then travel to Djibouti before possibly heading to Niger, the source added.
Iran and Libya have established good relations in several economic fields particularly energy. |
