Iran to deliver nuclear package in coming week

Tehran to deliver new package of proposals 'very soon', EU ready to study new Iranian offer.

TEHRAN- Iran's top nuclear negotiator, Saeed Jalili, said on Thursday that Tehran will deliver its new package of proposals to world powers in the coming Iranian week, which starts on Saturday.

When asked when Iran would deliver its updated package, Jalili, replied: "Very soon. In the coming week."

The European Union is keen to study any new offer, an EU official said Thursday.

"We are looking forward to having something, to see whether we can move forward on that basis," said the official.

Jalili spoke at central Tehran's Vali Asr mosque where he had come along with other top Iranian officials to attend a ceremony to mourn the death of Mohsen Ruholamini, a young protester who died 40 days ago.

Iranian reformist media says that Ruholamini died in police custody after he was arrested in the aftermath of the June 12 disputed presidential election which saw President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad return to power.

Ruholamini's father was an advisor to the election campaign of Mohsen Rezai, who was defeated by Ahmadinejad in the election.
