RABAT – Moroccan authorities arrested Tuesday a suspected terrorist in Tangier with links to the Islamic State group, said the interior ministry in a statement.
The man arrested in the northern Moroccan city is presented as a "dangerous member" of the IS group. He was actively sought after by several countries for his propaganda activities for the jihadist group.
The Central Bureau of Judicial Investigations (BCIJ) conducted, in cooperation with Spain, the arrest of the suspect.
Three other suspects, including two Moroccan brothers, involved in the propaganda and recruitment of jihadists for IS, were also arrested in Spain, according to the Interior Ministry.
Morocco was a victim of terror attacks in Casablanca in 2003 and Marrakech in 2011, which killed a total of 50 people and injured dozens.
