Outgoing Algerian PM announces new government, retaining all top ministers from previous one.

ALGIERS - Algeria's reappointed Prime Minister Ahmed Ouyahia named his cabinet Monday, retaining all the top ministers from the previous government, officials said.

Ouyahia, then the outgoing prime minister, was named on April 19 by newly re-elected President Abdelaziz Bouteflika to head the country's government, an official statement said.

Ouyahia had tendered his cabinet's resignation earlier that day as required by the constitution in the wake of the president's swearing-in.

Bouteflika was re-elected by 85 percent of Algerian voters on April 8.

In Ouyahia's government announced Monday, Abdelaziz Belkhadem remains foreign minister and Nouredine Yazid Zerhouni keeps the interior portfolio.

Abdelatif Benachenhou and Chakib Khelil maintain their positions as minister of finance and minister of energy and mines respectively.

Ouyahia, the head of the National Democratic Rally, backed Bouteflika's campaign along with the moderate Islamist party the Movement for Society and Peace and one faction of the divided National Liberation Front (FLN).

Another FLN faction backed its secretary general Ali Benflis, who was awarded only 6.4 percent of the vote.
