MANAMA - A mob hurling Molotov cocktails and stones set a police car on fire in a Bahraini village, but the occupants of the vehicle escape unharmed, BNA news agency reported.

A police official was quoted as saying a group of around 40 masked men clad in black clothes surprised a patrol late on Friday in the northern village of Diraz.

"A civilian security patrol came under a terrorist attack when a group of people threw explosive bottles at the patrol, until it was completely charred," the official said. "The patrolling team managed to leave the vehicle before being harmed."

The official did not give further details and said an investigation was underway.
