Abu Dhabi Film Commission announces 10 short films bill be selected for up to 100,000 AED in Production Funds.

 

ABU DHABI - Abu Dhabi Film Commission today announced the call for entries for its Aflam Qaseera Production Fund, a competition designed to promote emerging writers, directors and UAE-based production companies in creating short films for international screenings and eventual broadcast.

Each selected proposal will be eligible for up to 100,000 AED in production funds per film.

Twenty proposals will be selected for development, and ten films will then be selected for Production.

The competition is open to films 5 – 12 minutes in length and of any genre (drama, comedy, documentary, children’s, animation, horror, etc) and scripts must be in English or Arabic in standard screenplay format.

Those wishing to enter must be 18 years or older and UAE nationals, GCC nationals or UAE residents for more than 1 year.

University and College Media Graduates or Media Students in their graduating year are also eligible (production could be counted as work placement, with institution confirmation).

Entries can be from one Writer, a Writer/ Director, a Writer plus Director team, or any of these plus a UAE production company (production company is subject to approval - must have broadcast credits and strong finance and management skills)

The entry deadline is December 20, 2009. Entry (outline, script, budget, schedule, and supporting documents) requirements and guidelines are posted in detail on www.film.gov.ae and submissions can be made online.
