Three US soldiers killed in Iraq

Two separate roadside bombings in Baghdad and near Balad kill three US soldiers.

BAGHDAD - Three US soldiers were killed in two separate roadside bombings in Baghdad and to the north of the Iraqi capital, the US military said Tuesday.

It said one soldier died in a bombing Tuesday while on patrol in southern Baghdad, while two others were killed on Monday in a similar attack near Balad, to the north.

The deaths brought the number of American soldiers killed in Iraq to 2,445 since the March 2003 US-led invasion, according to an AFP count based on Pentagon figures.
