Costis Stephanopoulos is on three-day official visit to Lebanon to boost political, economic relations.

 
BEIRUT - Greek President Costis Stephanopoulos arrived here Wednesday on a three-day official visit to boost political and economic relations, officials said.

Stephanopoulos was met at the airport by President Emile Lahoud, Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri, Prime Minister Rafiq Hariri and Foreign Minister Jean Obeid.

The Greek president is accompanied by Deputy Foreign Minister Andreas Loverdos and 55 Greek businessmen.

Later Wednesday, Stephanopoulos is due to hold talks with Lahoud and sign four cooperation protocols in the tourism, agriculture as well as the air and land transport.

On Thursday, Stephanopoulos is due to inaugurate the offices of the Greek-Lebanese businessmen's forum before addressing the Lebanese parliament.

Lahoud made a trip to Athens in October 2001, on the first such visit to Greece by a Lebanese president since 1950.
