Police arrest 79 youths during raids in notorious districts of Sale on charges of violent robbery.

 

RABAT - Moroccan police rounded up 276 young people overnight in a crackdown on juvenile delinquency in Sale, the twin town of the capital Rabat, police announced Wednesday.

Police went to notorious "black spots" and have placed 79 youths in custody on charges of violent robbery, drug trafficking, public drunkenness and fraud of various kinds.

The others questioned were subsequently released.

The police operation began at 9:00 pm (2100 GMT) on Tuesday and went on throughout the night into the early hours in the Sidi Moussa and Tabriquet districts, as well as in the medina, or old town.
