About Us: Middle East Online (MEO)

The late founder, Dr. Haitham El-Zobaidi

The Voice of Reason, a Window to Enlightenment, and the Depth of the Event.

"Middle East Online (MEO) was established in London in 2000 by the late Dr. Haitham El-Zobaidi, a visionary pioneer of Arab digital media. The website was one of the very first—indeed, the second—digital media platforms dedicated to Arab affairs, maintaining a powerful and influential presence for over twenty-five years.

Today, the platform continues to serve as a knowledge bridge connecting the Arab reader with the world, offering a journalistic vision that goes beyond reporting the news to explore the underlying analysis and broader dimensions. We believe that the Arab world and the Middle East are in need of a free, bold, and open press—one that embraces the values of modernity and enlightenment and confronts challenges with a constructive critical spirit

Our Vision

We strive to be the premier source for in-depth analysis and cultural and political readings that contribute to shaping an enlightened Arab consciousness, far removed from ideological polarization and superficial news coverage.

What Sets Us Apart?

At Middle East Online, we don’t just monitor events; we create content that provokes questions and stimulates thought through several key pillars:

  • Sober Political Analysis: We provide calm and deep readings of crises and political shifts in the region and the world, in collaboration with an elite group of writers and analysts.

  • Cultural and Intellectual Movement: We dedicate significant space to literary creativity, art criticism, and intellectual issues that represent the spirit and evolving identity of the region.

  • Independence and Objectivity: We adhere to the highest standards of journalistic professionalism, maintaining an editorial line that serves the values of freedom, democracy, and human rights.

  • Comprehensive Coverage: From the heart of London to every Arab capital, we cover Arab and international affairs in both Arabic and English to bring the region's voice to the world.

Our Message to the Reader

In an era of rapid information, we are committed to providing you with accuracy and credibility. Middle East Online is not just a news site; it is a platform for dialogue and a pulpit for voices seeking to change the region's reality for the better through the power of the free word.

Middle East Online... A quarter-century at the heart of the event.
