Head of Morocco’s national security apologises to assaulted delivery tricycle owner

Hammouchi receives owner of delivery tricycle who was assaulted by police officer while his motorcycle was being towed away in unprecedented initiative.

CASABLANCA - Morocco’s Director General of the National Security (DGSN) Abdellatif Hammouchi received Saturday the owner of a delivery tricycle who was caught in a video being assaulted on Friday by a police officer after trying to stop the latter from towing away his motorcycle for committing an infraction.

Hammouchi received Khalid Choukri in Rabat as part of the police institution’s policy to protect and value its citizens.

Choukri the owner of the scooter announced his relief following his meeting with the strongman of the DGSN.

"I am extremely pleased and honoured to have been greeted by Hammouchi, who apologized on behalf of the security corps for the violent behaviour I suffered," Choukri told Moroccan TV 2M.

The video went viral of a police officer beating and insulting Choukri went viral on social networks.

The police officer in question was suspended from his functions and referred to the disciplinary council for violation of the code of ethics of the officials of the national security, for breach of the duty of reserve and for exposing an individual to verbal and physical aggression.

Hammouchi’s unprecedented initiative was widely acclaimed on social networks.
