Mentally sick man carrying plastic bag containing suspicious materials arrested at the entrance to Marrakech El Menara airport.

CASABLANCA - A man was arrested Wednesday at the entrance to Marrakech El Menara airport after being caught with a plastic bag containing suspicious materials.

National security forces at the airport entrance managed to arrest in the early hours of the morning a drunken 35-year-old man trying to deliberately set fire after being caught holding a plastic bag containing questionable materials.

A police statement revealed that the preliminary investigations showed that the suspect appeared to have symptoms of apparent mental imbalance and had been to several hospital institutions specialized in the treatment of mental and psychological diseases.

Preventive measures also enabled the police to find in his possession ten small gas bottles, which are usually used for camping, accompanied by ten cotton wipes and a bottle of table oil.

The statement concluded that the suspect had been kept pending further investigations before referring him to a mental hospital to check him out.
