Morocco arrests “Daesh” supporter

BCIJ arrests a 24-year-old individual in Salé for his alleged involvement in the preparation of a terrorist project aimed at undermining public order.

RABAT – Morocco’s Central Bureau of Judicial Investigations (BCIJ) arrested on Thursday a supporter of the terrorist organization “the Islamic State” also known as “Daesh”, aged 24, for his alleged involvement in the preparation of a terrorist project aimed at undermining public order.

According to preliminary investigations, the arrested individual, who was active in the city of Salé, pledged allegiance to the terrorist organization "Daesh" and expressed his interest in acquiring expertise in the manufacture of explosives due to of “fatwas” inciting to perpetrate terrorist acts, indicates a BCIJ press release.

Alongside his terrorist project, the defendant established contacts with “Daesh” intermediaries with a view to allowing him to join one of the branches of this organization in the Sahelo-Saharan region, adds the same source.

The accused was placed in police custody at the disposal of the judicial investigation carried out by the BCIJ under the supervision of the public prosecutor's office in charge of terrorism cases, with a view to shedding light on all the extremist activities which he committed. are accused, and to identify its possible links with different terrorist organizations, the press release concludes.
