The police arrest two individuals suspected of links with a criminal network active in the international trafficking of narcotics and psychotropic drugs after the seizure of drugs in Casablanca.

CASABLANCA – The judicial police of Morocco’s economic capital foiled Wednesday evening, in coordination with the services of the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance (DGST), an attempted trafficking of one ton and 420 kg of chira drug, according to the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN).

The police arrested two individuals, one of whom had a criminal record, suspected of links with a criminal network active in the international trafficking of narcotics and psychotropic drugs, said the DGSN.

The suspects were arrested immediately after their arrival aboard a utility vehicle in Casablanca as the searches led to the seizure of an inflatable boat and an outboard motor, as well as of 42 bales of chira with a total weight of one ton and 420 kg.

The defendants were placed in police custody for the purposes of the judicial investigation carried out under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor's office, in order to determine the possible ramifications of this criminal activity and to arrest the other accomplices.

This security operation is part of the intense and continuous efforts deployed by the services of the DGSN and the DGST, with a view to combating international trafficking in drugs and psychotropic substances, concluded the DGSN.
