Morocco to suspend flights with France November 28

The North African kingdom says it has decided to push back its decision to suspend flight with France into Sunday instead of Friday as originally announced in order to facilitate the return of citizens and residents.

RABAT - Morocco has decided to push back its decision to suspend flight with France into Sunday instead of Friday as originally announced, the state news agency reported late on Thursday.

The agency quoted the Inter-ministerial Committee in charge of coordinating international travel during the pandemic as saying that the decision is aimed at facilitating the return of citizens and residents.

The committee overseeing travel amid the pandemic made the decision Thursday “to protect Morocco’s achievements in managing the pandemic,” according to the state news agency MAP.

Royal Air Maroc, the national carrier, also announced on Twitter that the flight suspension was postponed to Sunday.

“We inform you that the suspension of Royal Air Maroc flights between Morocco and France is postponed to November 28th, 2021 at 11h59 PM instead of November 26th, 2021,” tweeted Royal Air Maroc.

Coronavirus infections have jumped in France over the last few days, with daily new cases rising above the 30,000 mark, and virus-related hospitalizations and deaths are again rising.

Morocco has imposed a vaccine pass for access to public places after it vaccinated over 50% of its population.

Morocco had previously cancelled flights with Russia, Germany, the UK and the Netherlands over COVID-19 concerns.
