Morocco’s king orders facilitation of expats’ return at affordable prices
RABAT – Morocco’s King Mohammed VI ordered the facilitation of the return of Moroccan expatriates to the North African kingdom at affordable prices, said Sunday the Royal Cabinet in a statement.
"As part of the very high solicitude of His Majesty King Mohammed VI - May God assist Him – for the members of the Moroccan community residing abroad, and of the permanent Royal attention to the continuity of their attachment to the motherland, His Majesty the King - May God glorify Him - has kindly given His very high instructions to the competent authorities and to all stakeholders in the field of transport, in order to work towards facilitating their return to the country at affordable prices,” said the statement.
King Mohammed VI instructed all stakeholders in the field of air transport, in particular the country’s airline company Royal Air Maroc, as well as the various actors of maritime transport, to ensure reasonable prices that are within everyone's reach, as well as a sufficient number of rotations, in order to allow Moroccan families abroad to return home and reconnect with their families and relatives, especially in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The monarch urged all tourism operators, both in the field of transport and the hotel industry, “to take the necessary measures to welcome the members of the Moroccan community living abroad in the best conditions and at the best prices,” concluded the statement.
The King’s initiative was welcomed by Moroccan expats who hailed his care for them in these special circumstances that have taken their toll on them throughout the pandemic.
“I can’t wait to bring all my family to Morocco after not being able to travel since the first lockdown in France,” said one Moroccan residing in Paris.
“The tickets are very affordable after so many years of paying very high prices in the summer seasons,” he added.
Royal Air Maroc said that over three million seats would be dedicated to this operation which will last from June 15 to September 30, 2021.
