Terrorist cell dismantled in Morocco

Moroccan authorities arrest four member of suspected terrorist cell who were planning to carry out deadly attacks in several cities across Morocco.

CASABLANCA – Moroccan authorities dismantled Monday a terrorist cell linked with the Islamic State, said the Interior ministry in a statement.

The Central Bureau of Judicial Investigations (BCIJ) arrested four members of the suspected cell, aged between 19 and 24, in the cities of Casablanca, Tangier, Nador and Tiznit.

The investigations showed that the suspects were acquiring knowledge of the manufacture of explosive charges and belts for the purpose of carrying out large-scale IS-like terrorist operations aimed at sensitive sites in several cities of the North African Kingdom, in application of the subversive agenda of the so-called "Islamic State" organization.

The searches carried out led to the seizure of electronic equipment, knives and writings praising IS.

The document said that one of the suspected terrorists was in direct contact with a member of the terrorist cell dismantled a few days ago, who was active in Morocco and Spain.
