ABU DHABI - Abu Dhabi will launch its second season of 'Sounds of Arabia' 2009-2010 with the 'Last Thursday of Each Month Concert' performed in November by top Lebanese Tarab diva Majida El Roumi.
'Sounds of Arabia', a music initiative organised by the Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage (ADACH), has witnessed exceptional success during its first season in Abu Dhabi, attracting an audience of thousands of Arab Tarab music fans.
Majida El Roumi, also known as 'The Angel of Arab Tarab Music' and 'The Favourite Singer of Intellectuals' will open the second season of 'Sounds of Arabia' with two performances at the Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi on November 24 and 26, 2009.
"The programme is in line with the strategy of the Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage of promoting music and arts," said Abdullah Al Ameri, Director of the Department of Culture and Arts at ADACH.
"The 'Last Thursday of Each Month Concert' will always bring diverse audiences in Abu Dhabi pleasant new surprises, including some giant artists" he added.
Majida El Roumi, daughter of the famous Lebanese musician Halim El Roumi, comes from a well-known musical family.
She was influenced by famous musicians such as Mohammed Abdul Wahab, Um Kalthoum, Abdulhalim Hafez and Asmahan.
She has a wide following that includes many intellectuals, in addition to having kings and presidents on her fans list.
