Morocco seizes 4.6 tonnes of cannabis resin

Morocco’s security forces foil an attempt to smuggle 4.635 tonnes of cannabis resin in Casablanca, and arrest two suspects.

CASABLANCA – Morocco’s security forces foiled Saturday an attempt to smuggle 4.635 tonnes of cannabis resin known as chira in Casablanca, according to a statement released by the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN). 

Two people suspected of links with a criminal network active in the international trafficking of drugs and psychotropic drugs by sea were arrested during the anti-drug operation.

The latest drug seizure is part of the ongoing efforts deployed by the DGSN services in coordination with the DGST, with a view to combating illicit drug and psychotropic drug trafficking networks, concluded the statement.
