Amina Agueznay to represent Morocco at 61st International Art Exhibition of the Venice Biennale
RABAT - As part of Morocco's participation in Morocco at the 61st International Art Exhibition of the Venice Biennale in 2026, the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication organized a call for projects for the design, production and realization of an exhibition at the Kingdom's pavilion, marked by the participation of 29 applications from Moroccan artists and curators, indicated a press release from the ministry.
The selected project was designated following the deliberations of the jury chaired by Mehdi Qotbi, President of the National Museum Foundation (FNM), and composed of Moroccan experts in contemporary art, namely Mouna Mekouar, Hicham Daoudi, Alya Sebti, Mustapha Bouhayati, Meryem Sebti, Hassan Sefrioui, Touriya El Glaoui and Fatihya Tahiri.
"The Asǝṭṭa artistic project reflects the plural richness of Moroccan heritage and its contemporary resonances, by promoting artisanal know-how as vectors of narration, in perfect resonance with the theme of this edition," it was specified.
Agueznay is an artist whose transdisciplinary practice is deeply rooted in the field. She has an intimate knowledge of the Moroccan territory, consolidated by collaborations with carpet weavers, institutions, and local and regional cultural actors.
Berrada is an experienced curator, active in Morocco and internationally, with expertise in project management.
