FICAM lures renowned film directors

The 20th edition of the Meknes International Animation Film Festival kickstarts in the Ismaili city of Morocco with a wide variety of activities and film projections.

MEKNES – The 20th edition of the Meknes International Animation Film Festival (FICAM) kickstarted Friday in the Ismaili city of Morocco with a wide variety of activities and film projections.

The second day of FICAM saw the presentation of the projects of the five authors selected as part of the 7th Francophone Writing Residence for animated films amid the presence of screenwriter and supervisor Jean Regnaud.

The festival also saw a session about the Making of “Children of the Sea” directed by Japan’s talented Ayumu Watanabe who returned to the different stages of production of his two feature films.”

Watanabe’s “Fortune Favours Lady Nikuko” will be played Tuesday night at the French Institute as part of the Long Compet.

The Master Class around dubbing with Véronique Augereau and Philippe Peythieu, the French voices of Marge and Homer in The Simpsons was held Saturday.

FICAM paid tribute to the two actors during the opening day of the festival.

Award-winning French director Michel Ocelot presented exclusively in Meknes images of his next feature film “Le pharaon, le sauvage et la princesse” (The pharaoh, the savage and the princess). Ocelot was FICAM’s guest of honour in 2017.

Marguerite Abouet, screenwriter of the Ivorian cartoon inaugurated the exhibition “Akissi ambiance le monde” inspired by the Akissi cartoon whose events take place in Abidjan, Ivory Coast.
