Four terror suspects arrested in Morocco

CASABLANCA – Moroccan authorities arrested Monday four terrorist suspects, including a former terror detainee, with links to the Islamic State group, according to the Interior Ministry.

The arrests led by the Central Bureau of Judicial Investigations (BCIJ) were made in the cities of Fez, Casablanca, Kenitra and Midar (Province of Driouch).

The initial investigations revealed that the arrested suspects adhered to acts of propaganda and dissemination of IS ideology and incited their knowledge to perpetrate terrorist attacks in Morocco, said the Interior Ministry in a statement.

The probe also showed that some suspects had links with fighters in both Syria and Iraq in order to benefit from their experiences in manufacturing explosives and gear in order to carry out terrorist acts aimed at some sensitive sites in several cities of the North African kingdom, added the ministry.

Electronic devices, a military uniform and books praising extremist ideology were seized during the operation.
