Israel says Iran has launched maritime attacks from UAV bases in Chabahar, Qeshm island

Israeli Finance Minister warns Iran could have nuclear weaponry within five years.

JERUSALEM - Israel accused Iran on Tuesday of carrying out attacks on maritime targets from bases in Chabahar and Qeshem island, saying that these sites were also used to store combat drones.

Defence Minister Benny Gantz made the allegation, which he described as a first public disclosure, during a televised speech at a security conference hosted by Reichman University.

Meanwhile, Israeli Finance Minister Avigdor Lieberman said on Tuesday that Iran could have nuclear weaponry within five years, adding that such progress would be unaffected by its current talks with world powers on a new deal to cap its nuclear technologies.

Lieberman, who is part of Prime Minister Naftali Bennett's security cabinet, was speaking at a conference about funding for Israeli military planning on Iran.
