Morocco puts eight generals to retirement

CASABLANCA - Eight generals of Morocco’s Royal Armed Forces (FAR) and the Royal Gendarmerie have been retired by FAR Inspector General Abdelfatah Louarak, according to local media.

The daily Al Akhbar reported that Louarak proposed to King Mohammed VI, supreme leader of the FAR, to retire eight senior officers of the Moroccan army and replace them with new ones.

Among those made retired was Major General Mossamim who was dismissed by Mohamed Haramou, the new boss of the Royal Gendarmerie.

Brigadier General Bousbaâ, head of the Gendarmerie's external relations, has been replaced by Colonel Lahlimi.

Al Akhbar said Haramou put an end to the Housni Benslimane era after pushing these generals towards retirement.

Among the retired generals were Brigadier General Aouad, Brigadier General Farouki, Brigadier General El Amiri, Brigadier General El Kaili, Brigadier General Bouharbiya and Mohamed El Arbi Tamidi, the former head of the military security.

General Bennani was appointed to preside over a region in the South while General Senoussi will be the new Air Force Chief.
