Dubai Aerospace Enterprise agrees to lease Royal Air Maroc 13 new Boeing 737-8 aircraft

The delivery of the 13 aircraft is set to boost the Moroccan carrier's ambition to establish itself as a major air hub between Africa, Europe, and beyond.

DUBAI - Dubai Aerospace Enterprise (DAE) announced Thursday that it has reached an agreement with Royal Air Maroc for a long-term lease of 13 Boeing 737-8s, with delivery scheduled to begin in 2027.

This operation is set to boost the Moroccan carrier's ambition to establish itself as a major air hub between Africa, Europe, and beyond. It involves the signing of a lease agreement between the Moroccan national airline and DAE, one of the world's leading aircraft lessors. The agreement primarily concerns the long-term lease of 13 new Boeing 737-8 aircraft.

The press release published by DAE specifies that the aircraft will be delivered in 2027, supplementing a previous contract between the two partners. This contract had already allowed the Moroccan airline to add two Boeing 737-8s to its fleet in 2025.

The agreement represents a significant milestone for RAM in the modernization and optimization of its fleet, with aircraft renowned for their operational efficiency and environmental performance. 

Chairman and CEO of the Moroccan carrier, Abdelhamid Addou, said that the agreement is fully aligned with the group's strategic ambition to become a leading global connector.

“The Boeing 737-8s will strengthen our network development capabilities, enabling the opening of new routes and increased frequencies with greater operational efficiency ,” he said. 

“They will also improve our flexibility to meet growing demand, while ensuring reliable connectivity between Africa, Europe, and beyond,” he added,

"We thank the Royal Air Maroc team for choosing DAE to support this major fleet expansion project ," said CEO Firoz Tarapore.

Royal Air Maroc’s move highlights the consistency of its strategic plan to modernize its fleet and consolidate its role as an African hub as it gears up for the World Cup 2030.
