UAE President in Moscow on official visit
MOSCOW — UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan arrived in Moscow on Thursday for an official visit to the Russian Federation.
The visit underscores the strengthening strategic partnership between the UAE and Russia, coming at a time of significant regional and global developments.
Upon entering Russian airspace, Sheikh Mohamed's aircraft was escorted by a formation of military jets - a traditional gesture of welcome and respect.
He was received with full official honors at Vnukovo International Airport, where a formal reception ceremony took place, including the playing of the national anthems of both nations.
The UAE President was accompanied by a high-level delegation, including Sheikh Hamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Managing Director of the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Special Affairs, Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, Advisor to the UAE President and a number of other senior Sheikhs, ministers, and officials.
Later in the day, Sheikh Mohamed was warmly welcomed by Russian President Vladimir Putin at the Kremlin during a ceremonial red carpet reception.
Senior Russian ministers and political figures, including Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov, were present for the event.
The leaders exchanged greetings, marking the beginning of high-level talks focused on deepening bilateral relations.
The discussions are expected to cover key areas of mutual interest, including economy, trade, and investment, energy cooperation and other sectors supporting shared development.
The two leaders will also discuss regional and international issues, such as tensions in the Middle East and broader global affairs.
This visit builds on the long-standing ties between the UAE and Russia, which celebrated 55 years of diplomatic relations this year. It follows Sheikh Mohamed's previous engagement in Moscow in August 2025 and recent trilateral peace consultations hosted in Abu Dhabi.
Observers note that the meeting comes amid ongoing geopolitical dynamics, with both nations playing influential roles in energy markets, BRICS cooperation, and efforts to promote stability in the region.
