Yemen's Houthis vow to retaliate following US-British strikes

The group's military spokesman says the strikes killed five fighters and wounded six others, and that the Houthis will continue to block the passage of ships in the Red Sea and the Arabian Sea.

DUBAI - Yemen's Iran-aligned Houthis said on Friday that strikes against the movement by the United States and Britain would not go without "punishment or retaliation."

The group's military spokesman said the strikes killed five fighters and wounded six others, and that the Houthis would continue to block the passage of ships in the Red Sea and the Arabian Sea.

Germany's Foreign Office said on Friday that overnight strikes against Houthi military targets in Yemen by Britain and the US were meant to prevent further attacks.

"Our aim remains to de-escalate tensions and restore stability in the Red Sea," wrote the ministry on social media platform X.
