BCK Art Gallery hosting collective exhibition of African art in Marrakech

Five African artists, including two Moroccans, who have been selected from the social network “Les Créatifs Africains”, are exhibiting their artworks at the BCK Art Gallery.

MARRAKECH - The BCK Art Gallery is hosting a collective exhibition of five African artists in the Moroccan ochre city of Marrakech under the aegis of Mia Duret.

Following a dynamic call for applications on the social network “Les Créatifs Africains” (African creatives), a collection of 180 painters’ portfolios was brought together.

A jury of artists from the Moroccan artistic scene assembled in the premises of the Younes Duret Design agency in mid-November, identified five artists who stood out for their inventiveness and technical mastery, reflecting the spirit of the collective African Creatives.

The selected winners were Mustapha Belkadi from Agadir, Lokher from Algiers, Abdias N’gateu from Douala, Khen Salumu from Kinshasa and Mohamed Noujmi from Rabat.

During three weeks, these five artists have been working in the Atelier of the BCK Art Gallery to showcase their artworks at the exhibition which is being held from February 7 until April 6.

One artist will be distinguished with a one-year contract with the BCK Art Gallery at the end of the exhibition.

This exceptional initiative is a vibrant call to artists from all backgrounds to embrace their passion, boldly face challenges and strive for excellence to elevate their artistic careers to new heights.

Influenced by the very essence of Marrakech, the artists have captured and transposed into their works the harmonious blend of age-old traditions and the modern excitement of this emblematic metropolis of the African continent.

An artistic platform

Initiated in 2017 by Mia Duret, passionate about art and design, the Facebook group “Les Créatifs Africains” brings together nearly 5,800 members, becoming a daily showcase of African creative genius.

Artists benefit from increased visibility as the platform lights up with fruitful collaborations, reflecting the diversity and richness of African creativity. Every day, it serves as a focal point for professional connections and artistic interactions. But beyond these achievements, what really sets this group apart is the authenticity of its connections.

““Les Créatifs Africains” is not just a group, it is a family, a haven of sharing and inspiration, where each member is valued and supported,” said Mia Duret.
